YUZHNIY GOK commissions swedish Epiroc drilling rig

YUZHNIY GOK (Kryvyi Rih, Ukraine) puts into operation two new DM75 drilling rigs from the Swedish company Epiroc. The cars were purchased under the 2021 investment program. Equipment of this series will be used at the plant for the first time.

Epiroc DM75 is able to drill a well with a depth of 51.2 meters and a diameter of 270 millimeters. The pressure on the bit is 34 tons, the rod rotation speed is 200 rpm. Thanks to these characteristics, the productivity of the machine is at the level of 10 linear meters per hour.

YUZHNIY GOK purchased machines in modification with an electric power plant. Unlike a diesel engine, an electric motor is more reliable and durable. In this case, the movement of the machine and the rotation of the rods occurs due to the hydraulic drive. This technical solution gives a smooth ride and protects against dynamic overloads.

The driver's cab is noiseless, insulated, equipped with a heater and air conditioning. Interaction with the machine - using an on-board computer with information output to digital displays. Workplace safety is FOPS (Falling Object Protection) certified.

2021 has become a technologically breakthrough year for the Southern Combine. For the first time since Ukraine's independence, YUZHNIY GOK produced 13.5 million tons of concentrate. The enterprise reached such productivity only in 1992. In many respects, this became possible due to the course taken for cardinal modernization and technical re-equipment of production stages. And first of all, we are talking about the renewal of processing, crushing and mining equipment.

The investment portfolio of the YUZHNIY GOK in 2021 amounted to about UAH 5 billion. The company has upgraded processing and crushing equipment, purchased 2 dump trucks, a bulldozer, and a grader.

Today, 14 drilling rigs operate at the Southern Mining and Processing Plant (excluding two new Epiroc DM75). Among them is the only fire drilling rig SBSh-250MNR in Ukraine.

YUZHNIY GOK is the first open-pit mining enterprise in Kryvbas and Eastern Europe to beneficiate and poor iron ores. JSC "YUZHNIY GOK" today is one of the main producers of iron ore concentrate in Ukraine. Yuzhny GOK has the best profitability indicators among similar enterprises in the region. In 2021, the plant produced 13 581,4 thousand tons of iron ore concentrate.
